"You don't train a dog in a training hall, jerking his neck or even giving him food treats. You train him using life rewards." Ian Dunbar

Here is the amazing part - Rates are for a private, tailored to your dog, lesson outside, not a group lesson with unruly dogs in a busy store with many distractions.

I base my training on pack leadership and dog psychology, not treat training. The dog does what you ask because you are the pack leader and to keep you happy, not for a treat. Treats are still a part of the dog's life, just not the main motivating reason for proper behaviour.

Once you have booked any of my services please pay a $20.00 deposit via Interac to glen@thedogtalker.ca. I have to implement this now due to people not showing up without any cancellation notice. The $20.00 will be forfeit if less than 24 hours is given for a cancellation. I am a one-man operation with limited space and every booking is important to me. The deposit will be applied to your next session when proper cancellation notice is given.

Due to my very low rates tipping is appreciated but not expected.

I will lock in my rate for repeat customers for the life of your dog.

Please fill out the form on the contact page when you are ready to book your first appointment.

Full Day: Includes afternoon pack walk $40.00

My initial consultation and lesson will be 1.5 hours at my home. I do the first consultation in the morning during the week(Limited availability) and on the weekends. This longer visit will help me assess your dog’s needs, create communication between us, and enable me to suggest the best training environment for your dog. A well-trained dog will reduce you and your dog's stress and make for a much happier pack.

There is a minimum $20.00 drive time fee for home lessons. Amount determined by drive time($40.00 hourly).

Drop Off and Pick Up Times:

Service Drop Off Pick Up
Full Afternoon with Pack: Includes 1.5 - 2.5 hour walk 11:00 - 11:45 04:00 - 06:00
Full Day: Includes afternoon pack walk 07:30 - 11:00 04:00 - 06:00

My drop off and pick up times are flexible. If you need service outside the posted times, I will try to accommodate you. Rather than a set fee per hour, I have decided to rely on people's goodwill and accept tips for good service. My goal is to keep every aspect of my business stress-free.

I am a firm believer in positive reinforcement. No shock or prong collars are used - no corporal punishment of any kind is ever used on my best friends. When used correctly these tools have their place, as a last resort. Too often the operator of the tool is not trained and the dog suffers unnecessarily. I witness it on a regular basis.

Rates for Dog Walking and Sitting

I only offer afternoon group walks now. If you are close enough I may be able to pick up your dog. Otherwise, you drop the dog off for a full or half day.

All the dogs in my pack walks receive free training. The newest members receive as much guidance as required to achieve proper behaviour. Not all dogs are created equal, so results may vary. There are always positive results.

Cage-free home environment with a big beautiful yard, often referred to as an oasis by my customers.

All my pack members will learn to run beside a bike (solo and in a pack). The speed of the bike ride is determined by the oldest or most unfit pack member and the temperature. There are many benefits to this method. The dog gets to travel at their natural speed, not a slow walk. The dog gets to run at their full speed to release maximum pent-up energy, and much more. There are many ice and water breaks and on hot days the running is done in the shade when possible. The pack members health is closely monitored by me.
